The default is that we act in accordance to all (authentic) ahadeeth. The scholars say that to action a hadeeth is given preference over ignoring it and to bring ahadeeth together to a compatible meaning is better than to deem one more correct than another. These are reckoned principles of the scholars.
However, if there occurs an irreconcilable contradiction between ahadeeth, there are principles the scholars of Usool have laid down in order to deem one more correct than another.
And from what I remember, and I read this over 20 years ago, al-Aamadi, in his book al-Ahkaam, when he mentioned contradictions between ahadeeth, he cited over one hundred ways in which one can be deemed stringer. At number one hundred, he mentions that the more authentic hadeeth should be given precedence, or giving precedence to that which has been reported in the Saheehain, or one of them over what has been reported in another book of the Sunnah. And this is the case when they are irreconcilable from every angle.
